Support for civil liberties
Quaid-e-Azam considered civil liberties as indispensable for the development of human society. He considered freedom of speech, freedom of the press, and freedom of religion as the foundation of a modern and democratic state. Jinnah believed that every citizen should have the right to express his opinion, practice his religion and make important decisions of his life freely.
Even before the creation of Pakistan, Jinnah emphasized these principles in his struggle against British imperialism. He wanted to create a society where no citizen would face discrimination on the basis of his religion, caste, or language.
Right to a fair trial
Jinnah was associated with the field of law and had a deep belief in the rule of law. He always advocated adherence to the principles of fair trial. He believed that punishing any person without due process of law was a violation of the principles of justice. According to Jinnah, the courts should be independent and impartial and every accused should have full right to present his defence.
He has defended people who have been unfairly targeted in numerous cases. His actions proved that he was not ready to compromise on universal principles of justice.
Jinnah's vision for Pakistan
Quaid-e-Azam made it clear in his historic speech on August 11, 1947 that all citizens will have equal rights in Pakistan. He said:
"You are free, you are free to go to your temples, you are free to go to your mosques, or any other place of worship. No matter what religion, caste or race you belong to, the state has nothing to do with it. Not related."
These words reflect the views of Jinnah in which he wanted to provide equal and fair rights to every citizen.
Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah's thought is a guiding principle for today's Pakistan. His views on civil liberties and the right to a fair trial lay the foundation for building a society where justice and equality are the right of every individual. By following these principles, we should proceed towards the creation of a Pakistan that is in line with Jinnah's vision.
